Gang Sheet Builder

From empty sheet to print file.

The builder is where most of the work happens. These five steps are the usual path.

  1. 01

    Open the builder and set your sheet

    Pick a roll width and length that matches your press — 22″ wide is a common DTF default. Everything on the canvas is sized in real printed inches.

  2. 02

    Add your artwork

    Drag files in, upload a folder, or use the Library panel for images you saved from halftone or upscale. PNG with transparency works best for DTF.

  3. 03

    Size, crop, and check DPI

    Resize each piece to how it should print. The builder shows effective DPI live — aim for 300 at print size. Crop and adjustments are non-destructive; your original file is kept.

  4. 04

    Nest the sheet

    Select pieces and run auto-nest. Gangly packs them tightly, respects rotation locks, and tells you if something will not fit — nothing is silently dropped.

  5. 05

    Export

    Choose PDF, PNG or TIFF at your DPI. Optional white base and cut paths are available. Free accounts include one export; Pro is unlimited.

Prep tools

Halftone and upscale — when to use each.

Halftone

Use this when artwork has soft gradients, photographs, or colours you need to knock out for a clean print. Adjust dot size and contrast, preview how it will look on fabric, then save or send the result to a gang sheet.

Upscale

Use this when a customer sent a file that is too small for the print size they want. Upscale adds detail, then you can drop the result straight into the builder and check DPI before you export.

Good to know

A few terms, in plain language.

New to DTF? These four ideas cover most of what you will see in the builder.

Gang sheet
One piece of transfer film carrying many designs. Fitting more on each sheet lowers your cost per print.
Effective DPI
Pixels divided by printed inches — the number that actually predicts sharpness. The builder calculates it for every piece.
Transparency
Clear areas in your PNG are where white ink and colour are not printed. Cut out backgrounds before uploading when you can.
Auto-nest
Automatic layout. Gangly places the largest pieces first, fills gaps, and compacts the sheet to save film length.
